Riot Games has shared a video teasing what’s coming in 2020 for League of Legends and beyond. From new champions and skins, a Teamfight Tactics update, and Riot’s new games, fans have a lot to be excited for this year.

Head of League of Legends Joe “New001” Tung shared Riot will be updating players with details throughout the week, starting with explanations of where the developer is headed with limited time game modes. New001 also promised to give fans more information about new skins and champions coming this year, but what players have been most interested in is a teaser of the reworked Volibear, showing the bear looking much different than what they’re accustomed to.

Fans get a glimpse of the upcoming Volibear rework

League players have known Volibear will be the next champion to receive a rework for a few months now, but details have been scarce. Riot shared in the October 2019 Champion Roadmap that the direction of Volibear’s update has been decided on, one that will preserve his gameplay identity while giving him more of the demigod features he’s been missing.

The visuals Riot has now teased show the bear looking more fearsome and detailed, with a big, braided mane, and icy particles taking the shape of his new armor. No details about his new gameplay have been shared yet, but more will be known with the first Champion Roadmap of the year that’s expected to be released soon.

Volibear’s new braids have also drawn comparisons to League’s existing braided animal, Rengar.

Clash launch, TFT mobile, Legends of Runeterra, more in 2020

After a few beta tests, Riot is also ready to officially launch Clash. With Clash, players have an opportunity to set up their own teams and fight others through a short bracket for rewards.

But not all updates the developer has teased are strictly related to League of Legends. Fans can also expect to hear more about the mobile port for Teamfight Tactics, as well as the details of the new set coming to the auto battler in the coming weeks.

The Legends of Runeterra team should also be sharing dates for the upcoming beta test for the digital card game. There’s also a new League of Legends tabletop game coming this year.
