Another legend has retired from professional League of Legends, with support player Kang “GorillA” Beom-hun calling it a career.

The 2021 offseason has been full of great players retiring and GorillA is the next in line. The Korean support has had a fantastic career and will likely be remembered as one of the best support players of all time. He is mostly known for his time on ROX Tigers, one of LoL’s most celebrated teams.

GorillA announced his retirement on Twitter and says that he will now invest time into himself and no longer be completely focused on playing League of Legends. GorillA looked back on his career and said he is grateful to have played his last year with SANDBOX Gaming where he broke the record of 4,000 assists in the LCK. He closed by thanking all his fans throughout his career, saying that he has received support and praise on a scale that he will probably never experience again.

“I’m grateful that you are with me, in my final moment as a professional gamer,” GorillA said to his fans. “This will be the final time I will be reaching out to you as a professional player. However, I will find you again, through other future opportunities.”

GorillA ends his long career with three LCK trophies and four World Championship appearances, the first being in 2014. GorillA has played on top teams such as Kingzone DragonX, Longzhu Gaming, ROX Tigers, and NaJin White Shield. It’s still unknown what GorillA will do next, but it’s not unthinkable that he will return as a coach or analyst at some point.
