Kengan Ashura season 3 confirmed, official release date teased
There are big changes happening on Netflix, but they’re not affecting anime fans as much as other demographics. Kengan Ashura season 2, or season 3 according to Netflix, is inbound and the release date is now confirmed.
Netflix is putting many of its live-action series on the chopping block right now, but the service’s anime offering seems to be growing normally. It’s a particularly good time for fighting anime fans as Baki Hanma season 2 and Kengan Ashura season 3 are both in the works. The news was officially confirmed on the official Netflix Twitter account.
Though Netflix announced the next season of Kengan Ashura as the show’s second season, it’s technically the third season according to Netflix itself. The first 24 episodes of the anime are divided into two equal parts that are officially considered one season. Either way, fans can expect more face-punching action in the future.
Kengan Ashura follows main character Tokita Ohma, a Kengan fighter. The Kengan is an underground fighting circuit that a network of Japanese corporations participate in. It’s rooted in the tradition of merchant guilds hiring champions to fight in organized bouts to establish territory and control markets. Ohma initially represents a company called the Nogi Group, but is removed from the position and re-hired by a shell company owned by the Nogi Group to compete in a tournament to determine the Kengan’s new leadership.
Kengan Ashura season 3 release date teased
Kengan Ashura season 3 will release at some point in 2023.
No exact details regarding its release date have been confirmed beyond the year 2023. It’s unclear whether the series will come back early in the year, but a release towards the end of 2023 is a distinct possibility. Regardless, Kengan Ashura coming back should be welcome news for series fans.
Kengan Ashura’s first two seasons were released on Netflix in 2019. Though the series enjoyed a relatively positive reception, little information has come out on the anime since its release.
Fans who want to know what’s in store for Kengan Ashura season 3 can check out the manga. Though the anime stalled, the Kengan Ashura manga ran for 27 volumes before being succeeded by Kengan Omega.
