How are western players doing on the Chinese super server?

The western teams participating at the 2020 World Championship have been boot camping in Shanghai for around one week and grinding solo queue all the while. But how are the pros doing so far?

All the best players from around the world are gathered on the Chinese super server, and big streamers are spectating them to provide content for hungry LoL fans. The games have been bloody and the individual performances are at the highest level of any solo queue games out there.

The western players are battling on the Chinese server for the first time against opponents that they usually never play against when queuing up. This has resulted in a race among western players to see who can reach the top ranks fastest.

Fnatic top laner Gabriël  “Bwipo” Rau was the first western player to reach top 100 on the server, with G2 Esports mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther right behind him. The high ranks mean that the players are closing in on 1000 LP in challenger, which is definitely impressive after only a few days of playtime.

Tanked some of my winrate unfortunately, but still above 60% so I’ll have to take that pic.twitter.com/Y3b8rLiF48

Where do the top North American and European players rank in China’s solo queue?

The highest-ranked player from North America is Team SoloMid support Erik “Treatz” Wessén, currently ranked number 145 with close to 800 LP. The LCS players are a bit behind the LEC players but seem to be catching up. The LCS teams arrived to Shanghai a bit later, giving all of the European players a head start.

Players from the wild card regions are also performing on the Chinese super server. Legacy Esports support Jonah “Isles” Rosario are currently ranked as number 212 with 625 LP. A few ranks behind him is Rainbow7 support Facundo “Shadow” Cuello at rank 235.

Among the 10 highest ranked western players, three of them are support players. The bot lane position is also represented by three players, while there are two mid laners. Jungle and top lane are the least represented positions, with only one player each.

The players still have many weeks left of Chinese solo queue and it’s only a matter of time before someone breaks into the top 10.
