How are Tulsa King and Yellowstone related?

Tulsa King is an American crime drama television show created by Taylor Sheridan. If that name sounds familiar, it is because Sheridan is the mastermind behind the Yellowstone universe. Does it mean Tulsa King is related to Yellowstone?

Yellowstone is a neo-Western drama that premiered in 2018 on Paramount Network. The show stars Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, and many other stars. Yellowstone became the stepping stone for an entire universe with the creation of 1883 and 1923. All three shows follow the Dutton family at different points in history.

Considering the success of Yellowstone and its prequels, it was only natural for audiences to tune in when Tulsa King premiered.

Tulsa King follows a New York Mafia capo who is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to establish a criminal operation there. The show touches on themes that could be similar to the ones on Yellowstone but from a different approach.

Is Tulsa King related to Yellowstone?

Unfortunately, both shows are not related in any way. The stories take place in two universes completely different. The only thing Yellowstone and Tulsa King share in common is their creator, Taylor Sheridan.

As for a possible link between the shows, it is also unlikely. Yellowstone is set to end with its fifth season. According to some rumors, the premature ending of the show might have been caused by issues between the producers and Costner. A sequel to Yellowstone is allegedly already in the works.

Tulsa King will have a second season, but the exact release date is unknown for now. The show-stopped production indefinitely amid the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. It is unclear what the future holds for Tulsa King and whether the creators will tie it to the new Yellowstone spin-off or not.
