Hogwarts Legacy hosted its first
gameplay
stream, and here is every that players can expect from the highly anticipated title.
Hogwarts Legacy takes players back to the wizarding world of Harry Potter in the 1800s. The players take the role of a student transferring to Hogwarts in the fifth year, a late arrival that was revealed in a recent gameplay stream by
developer Avalanche Software.
The stream, hosted by members of the development team, primarily showcased the character creator. The tool has plenty of customization options like hairstyles, skin colors, and facial features. Once the character is created, the players get to choose their name, gender, and difficulty.
Hogwarts Legacy gameplay has four levels of difficulty. Their names are the standard easy, normal, and hard. The fourth difficulty is just the story, which is meant for players that don’t want to worry about involving themselves with combat mechanics.
Once in the game, the right side of the screen will show what is known as the Spell Diamond. It is a tool for easy access to spells with four slots that can be expanded to include more later in the game. On the left side of the screen is a mini-map that players can disable if they choose to.
Will Hogwarts Legacy gameplay open world?
Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world game. In the gameplay stream, viewers could appreciate differnt parts of the castle at their leisure. Some of the highlights are the houses’ common rooms, with each common room having its own unique music to distinguish it from the others.
As a newly-transferred student, players receive the Wizard’s Field Guide from the teachers. This is a book that contains challenges, side quests, and more. Around the castle, students can gather pages of the book to learn more information about Hogwarts.
The castle is described as a “sentient magic castle” that will change with the seasons and has day-night cycles. Classes are not mandatory but encouraged since it’s the best way for players to learn and master spells.
The Hogwarts Legacy gameplay stream showed how combat works. As the players advance, they will get more options for spells to learn. In combat, the spells have cooldowns, which will play a part in the way players approach to combat. Spells are color-coded, to help the players decide which spell to use in every situation.
Hogwarts Legacy will be released on February 10, 2023.
