Here are the best psychic Pokémon in Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO is still booming even after more than four years from its release, with players battling and raiding like crazy all over the world. To make some of the battles a bit easier, here’s a look at the best psychic Pokémon to use.

Battling in Pokémon GO has increased in popularity and is now a very important part of the game. The game isn’t just about catching them all anymore, but also about defeating raid bosses, Team Rocket grunts, and team leaders. This means that the Pokémon are used for combat like in the old games, where types and moves play a key part.

Here are the best psychic Pokémon and how to use them.

Mewtwo

Mewtwo Pokemon GO

Mewtwo might be a classic Pokémon all the way back from the first generation, but it’s still a heavy-hitter in Pokémon GO raids and battles. Mewtwo is generally a great attacker in the game, to a point where some might call it the strongest out of all Pokémon in the game.

Just like any other Psychic Pokémon, Mewtwo has some strengths and weaknesses. When going up against a fighting or poison type, Mewtwo will, without a doubt, do the most damage per second with the right moves. Investing some stardust and rare candy into a Mewtwo will likely be a great choice, as the legendary Pokémon can come in very handy in various battles.

Best Moves:

Fast move: Confusion

Charges move: Psystrike

Alakazam

If you don’t yet have a Mewtwo or have enough candy to power it up, Alakazam will be a great secondary choice. The generation 1 magician will be fairly easy to gather candy for and most players in Pokémon GO have at least one available.

Alakazam has the same strengths and weaknesses as MewTwo, but will likely deal a bit less damage compared to a fully-powered Mewtwo. With that said, Alakazam can easily take on a Pokémon like Machamp in raids and enable players to solo it without help from others.

Best Moves:

Fast move: Confusion

Charges move: Psychic

Espeon

Espeon Pokemon GO

If Alakazam isn’t easy enough to get, everyone will be able to have an Espeon in almost no time. Eevee is fairly easy to catch in Pokémon GO and only requires 25 candies to evolve. Evolving to an Espeon is also quite easy, especially the first time.

If you haven’t already added Espeon to the Pokédex, it can be done by renaming the Eevee to “Sakura” before evolving. This will automatically evolve the Eevee into an Espeon. To get more Espeon, all players have to do is walk with the Eevee as a buddy Pokémon for 10 kilometers and evolve it during the day. This trick also turns the Eevee into a guaranteed Espeon.

In battle, Espeon is also a solid attacker and can be a great addition to any team taking down fighting or poison Pokémon.

Best Moves:

Fast move: Confusion

Charges move: Psychic

Gardevoir

Gardevoir is the last Psychic Pokémon on the list to consider. As a Pokémon from generation 3, Gardevoir might be more popular among younger players who came into the Pokémon genre a bit later than others. In Pokémon GO, Gardevoir has been out for a few years but is still a bit harder to grind towards.

To get a Gardevoir requires a total of 125 Ralts candy, which can be hard to come by. There will likely be events where Ralts is spawning more commonly, so make sure to take advantage of those.

With Gardevoir, players won’t only get a strong psychic type but also a Fairy-type Pokémon. This makes Gardevoir extra viable against certain Pokémon and in general a flexible attacker. Unlike the other Psychic Pokémon, Gardevoir will do fine against Dark and Dragon types.

Best Moves:

Fast move: Confusion

Charges move: Psychic

Which types are Psychic Pokémon good against?

Psychic Pokémon are best against Fighting and Poison types. Psychic moves will do double the damage against these two types, which makes Psychic Pokémon great against Machamp, Lucario, Victreebel, and others.

What is Psychic weak against?

Psychic is weak against Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type moves. This means that Psychic Pokémon always have to be careful against Pokémon such as Gengar, Scyther, and Tyranitar.
