Golden Guardians make sweeping staff changes

Golden Guardians has replaced the entirety of their NA LCS coaching staff. Golden Guardians Academy head coach Daniel “Mango” Morissette will be assuming all head coaching duties for the team.

Under interim spring head coach Tyler Perron, Golden Guardians looked to be a team hitting its stride. Sitting at 5-3 after four weeks of play is a massive improvement from a  tenth-place effort in the spring split. But the Golden State Warriors affiliate has struggled since then, going 0-6 in the last three weeks of the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split.

Golden Guardians will also be hiring Nick “Inero” Smith as a freelance consultant. Up until recently, Inero was the head coach of Echo Fox for nearly two full years. He may have the insight on team functionality that Golden Guardians have previously been lacking in a coaching role since the removal of Choi “Locodoco” Yoon-sup.

Golden Guardians made the announcement on twitter ahead of week 8 of the NA LCS Summer Split.

Golden Guardians head of esports Hunter Leigh had made it clear that Tyler Perron as head coach was the plan for the remainder of the Summer Split.

“By the end of spring, we were set on giving Tyler a chance,” Leigh said. “It didn’t take long for Tyler to prove that he was really good at this and worthy of a longer run to establish himself.”
