Genshin Impact 4.0 brings Fontaine, Hydro archon, and more
After a long wait in Sumeru, Hoyoverse has finally revealed new information about the next region of Genshin Impact. Fontaine, the land of water, will introduce a ton of places to explore and new lore for the overarching story. If you’re looking forward to Genshin Impact 4.0, here’s what we know about Fontaine from its new characters, mechanics, and archon.
Fontaine is the fifth region available in the world of Genshin Impact. Fontaine’s design is inspired by France and seems far more technology-advanced than other nations. Being ruled by the Hydro Archon, Fontaine is often referred to as a “Nation of Justice” and the center of Teyvat’s arts and culture.
The nation is full of water, meaning it will likely bring plenty of competition for Yelan’s iconic dice elemental burst.
The first parts of Fontaine will become accessible in update 4.0, which is scheduled for August 16, 2023. Meanwhile, you can test your luck in the 3.8 Update Event Wishes to get Eula and Klee or save up Primogems for the Kokomi and Wanderer banners, which have been confirmed for July 25.
Players must complete the Archon Quests Chapters of Monstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru to access this new region. This can take a lot of time if you are new to the game, so get started now to enjoy all the new Fontaine content coming in August.
New Fontaine Genshin Impact characters coming in 4.0
The 4.0 Update will introduce Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet as the first playable Fontaine characters. These three appear in the Final Feast trailer, where we can see Lyney and Lynette acting as a magician duo while Freminet dives deep into the ocean.
Besides the brothers, we can also see characters like Charlotte, who appeared recently in update 3.7, and Arlecchino, one of the Fatui Harbingers featured in the Winter Night’s Lazzo trailer last year.
Finally, at the end of the trailer, we can see members of the Fontaine court, like Neuvillette and Furina, speaking during a trial. If you are familiar with Genshin Impact, you must know by now that the Archon characters are among the most powerful characters in the game. The Hydro Archon will likely not be an exception to that rule.
Unfortunately, there is still no information about the identity of the Hydro Archon or when she will appear. While many players and leakers suggest that Furina is the Hydro Archon, there still needs to be an official confirmation from Holoverse, so players must wait until the Archon Quest release to know more.
Lastly, according to leakers, Update 4.0 will change the character selection screen and party menu, making it look more like Honkai Star Rail. The 3.8 live stream also showed that players will be able to dive underwater in some areas of Fontaine. However, it is still unknown if this will be exclusive to this region or if we will be able to do it in other nations.
