Gen.G is the only undefeated team in the LCK Summer Split at 7-0

The 2021 LCK Summer Split is currently looking very competitive but Gen.G stands out as the clear top team with a current record of 7-0.

After performing well for a long time, it’s no surprise that Gen.G is placed at the top of the LCK after the first three weeks of the split. What is surprising is that the team is the only undefeated team in the league and currently several games ahead of the defending champion DWG KIA.

So far, DWG KIA has been playing with different starting lineups and that has resulted in inconsistency. Gen.G has taken big advantage of this and is currently looking like a team that will cruise all the way to a trophy.

The latest win for Gen.G was against Fredit BRION, which ended up being Gen.G’s seventh win in a row despite dropping a game. With a 14-5 game record, Gen.G has been forced to three games in most matches this split, but always seems to come out ahead when it really matters. Gen.G is yet to face off against DWG KIA, but as of right now, it looks like they might even enter that match as favorites.

The reason behind Gen.G’s success in this split is purely based on consistency and great team synergy. The current roster has been together for over three splits now and is starting to look like a unit. With the main carry in bot laner Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk, there always seems to be a player to step up when it matters.

For a long time, Ruler has been the player to look out for on Gen.G and he still is. The veteran bot laner is currently leading the league in kills with 83. A bit behind him are his teammates Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee and Kim “Clid” Tae-min with 70 and 58 kills respectively. All these kills have helped out Ruler tremendously, as he hasn’t been the only threat on Gen.G so far.

If three potential carries on the team weren’t enough, mid laner Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong is still in great form but hasn’t needed to be the big carry this split. Instead, he has played a lot of control mages or champions that can help set up the rest of his team. Bdd has also had some great performances on Akali, where he really got to shine through. The great split has resulted in him reaching his 1400th kill in the league, which puts him in ninth place on the LCS all-time kill record list.

The next match for Gen.G will be against DWG KIA, which will likely say a lot about who the real favorite is to win this split.

Who plays for Gen.G in the 2021 LCK Summer Split?

Gen.G was one of the teams to not make any adjustments for the 2021 LCS Summer Split. The organization keeps believing in its five-man core, which has now been together since November 2019.

The Gen.G LCK roster is:

  • Top – Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee
  • Jungle – Kim “Clid” Tae-min
  • Mid – Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong
  • Bot – Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk
  • Support – Kim “Life” Jeong-min
