G2 Esports is the first team confirmed for the LEC final in Rotterdam after a devastating victory over Origen.

G2 is putting the negative results of the late season behind and showing why they are the number one team in Europe. The squad had three weeks off between the end of the regular season and round two of the playoffs, more than enough time to recover from recent losses.

Many anticipated five games in the series versus Origen, but G2 closed the deal early with a decisive 3-0.

Game one would set the tone for the remaining sets. Origen neutralized enemy jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, who was forced to play passively.

This early advantage turned into map control and a gold advantage for Origen. Top laner Barney “Alphari” Morris and mid laner Erlend “Nukeduck” Våtevik Holm would keep Origen ahead for most of the game with solid play and poking.

While G2 went for the risky plays, Origen played with discipline, always going for the safer moves on the map. G2’s willingness to go all in would become their win condition. The team forced a baron buff while Rasmus “Caps” Winther on Ryze fought against and occupied three members of Origen inside Origen’s base.

Origen had all the tools, but G2 was the better team in the end. After stealing an elder drake, the team went for a successful end.

Game two started with a beautiful level one setup by G2 that secured the first blood. Origen continued to remain smart and organized in their play, and G2 responded by settling its own play down.

G2 focused on the neutral objectives and map control in game two. Caps on Swain and Luka “Perkz” Perković on Xayah were a lethal duo that outscaled the entire Origen squad.

Origen tried to be proactive in response to G2’s scaling, but G2 would not have any of it. A baron buff and a superb quadra kill from Martin “Wunder” Hansen later, G2 had won game two.

Origen failed to make the proper changes in game three. The squad fell again for the level one gank and G2 was ahead from the start after the early first blood.

At 23 minutes and with the nexus exposed, Origen showed signs of life. The squad kicked G2 out of its base and went for a hail mary baron buff, but the attempted play wasn’t enough to stop Caps and his teammates.

This is not the end of the season for Origen, as the team has one more chance against Fnatic. The winner of that series will face G2 in the LEC Spring Split final.
