FunPlus Phoenix share picks for 2019 World Champion skins

As the winner of the League of Legends 2019 World Championship, FunPlus Phoenix picked champions that will receive the new World Champion skins.

Beyond the trophy and a cash prize, winners of League’s Worlds championships get their own set of in-game skins. Players get to choose champions they wish the skins to be designed for, under the condition they played that champion during the main event.

Often the champions picked are played in the final games, and FPX skins won’t be much different.

World Champion Lee Sin, Thresh, and more FPX skins coming to League

FPX dominated the Worlds finals against G2 Esports. The young LoL Pro League team swept the Europeans 3-0, marking China as the best region in League for the second year in a row. FPX went home with a bit over $800,000 in prizes, and a heavy Summoner’s Cup packed in a Louis Vuitton case.

The team will also get to showcase their international victory with in-game skins, and most of the FPX players shared their champion picks in the post-match interview, right after the Worlds finished.

FPX’s jungler Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang picked Lee Sin, which wasn’t surprising given he played Lee in all three of the final games. His finals performance with the champion even resulted in an MVP award.

Another pick seen in the finals is Liu “Crisp” Qing-song’s Thresh. Although he has mostly played Nautilus throughout the championship, he played Thresh in two of the final games, helping his team take the lead with precise hooks.

Lin “Lwx” Wei-Xiang couldn’t decide between Kai’Sa and Vayne. While he got to play Kai’Sa only in the second final game due to bans, she was his marksman of choice in 16 Worlds games, and Lwx achieved over 80% win rate playing her.

Kim “GimGoon” Han-saem didn’t have any doubts about his champion of choice. The top laner dominated with Gangplank in 16 games, including two of the finals, so it’s the pirate League players will get to buy dressed in FPX colors.

Doinb to let fans decide on his team skin pick

The star of the show, however, wasn’t as decisive when it came to picking his World Champion skin. FPX’s mid laner Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang shared during the interview he will discuss the pick with his fans.

Doinb has a large pool of champions to choose from, but he mostly played Ryze and Nautilus during Worlds. He achieved the highest 12.8 KDA with Ryze across 13 games, but his finals performance included both Ryze and Nautilus, as well as Galio.

Judging from the previous years, FPX World Champion skins will be released in the spring next year. Although the players shared their wishes, Riot Games hasn’t made any of them official yet.
