The esports industry is off to a strong start to 2022 thanks to many big tournaments and events. The industry is also growing with more non-endemic brands coming in.

Things aren’t stagnant though, as new trends are emerging all the time. These trends range from more immersive gaming to better security. Here are some of the major trends to watch out for in 2022.

Esports betting

With the esports viewership growing, fans have the chance to bet on different tournaments. Online sportsbooks allow players to wager on events as they happen, similar to traditional sports betting.

There are plenty of options for those who are interested. Many top online bookmakers offer action on esports. Aside from that, many offer welcome bonuses exclusive to esports betting. You might even find recurrent promotions for esports games. Another side to it is that you can also place bets on esports games just like you would with Preakness stakes.

Cybersecurity

Security is a big part of the online world and if you want to play online, you have to ensure that your details are safe from hackers. You don’t want to end up on a platform that shares your data with third-party sites without your consent.

Cybersecurity is key for platforms in the esports industry to protect user data and give consumers a chance to enjoy their time while playing. Security is always an arms race against bad actors so this is always important to watch.

Metaverse

One of the biggest buzzword in the tech industry is “Metaverse.” Officially, it’s a virtual world created to mirror the real world but other benefits. In reality, it’s open to interpretation whether this is virtual reality, an MMORPG, new office software, or something else entirely. Either way, a clear vision will emerge and will likely have an impact on esports.

Mobile Esports

Playing on the go has been around for a while now but its space in esports is vague. Some territories have embraced mobile esports while others have completely ignored the idea.

Therefore, it is one part of the industry that has clear growth potential. Cross-platform games like Pokemon Unite could help add an air of legitimacy to it.

Responsible Gaming

If you’re familiar with online gambling, you’re aware of responsible gambling. It was developed because of how addictive gambling can be. Video games have also shown these signs with their own form of gambling, loot boxes.

The Government of China has made aggressive changes to its handling of video game microtransactions and many governments in Europe have discussed similar moves. That could make for serious changes in the future around the world.

The esports industry is growing and keeping up on new trends is important. You should be sure that you know what you’re getting into and try looking around for more trends as they emerge.
