Elden Ring on PC looks to be a breathtaking experience if the player’s PC specs are up to the task.

Elden Ring’s February 25 release is fast approaching, but many PC players are only now checking if their machine is up to the task of running the new game. From Software has finally released its list of recommended and minimum specs for its brutal open-world adventure. While not as high as some other AAA releases, the game greatly benefits from a better setup. Here’s how to check if your PC is ready for Elden Ring and which brand of hardware the game runs best on.

According to From Software’s official data, the recommended specs to run Elden Ring at higher settings is as follows.

  • Windows 10/Windows 11
  • Intel Core i7-8700K/AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
  • 16 gigabytes of RAM
  • Nvidia GTX 1070/Radeon RX Vega
  • 60 gigabytes of open storage

While not specified by the developer, a PC with specs equivalent to or greater than the recommendations should run Elden Ring at 1080p with around 60 frames per second. Performance can vary depending on the situation, and game director Hidetaka Miyazaki has stated that there will be plenty of poison swamps to give graphics cards a challenge.

What’s the minimum PC specs to run Elden Ring?

While the recommended specifications for Elden Ring are fairly high, you don’t need a monster rig to run the game at minimum settings. From Software recommends the following.

  • Windows 10
  • Intel Core i5-8400/AMD Ryzen 3 3300X
  • 12 gigabytes of RAM
  • Nvidia GTX 1060/Radeon RX 580
  • 60 gigabytes of open storage

Experiencing the Lands Between in full HD and with a high frame rate is desirable, but many players are happy to just run the game at all. The minimum requirements to run Elden Ring are reasonable for most PC gamers, but setups without dedicated graphics cards will struggle to render the open world.

Based on the recommended and minimum Elden Ring PC specs, it seems that the game will run better on Nvidia graphics cards compared to AMD offerings. The 580 generally performs somewhat better than the Nvidia GTX 1060 in benchmark tests, but Form Software rates them equally for Elden Ring. CPU manufacturer seems to matter a little less, as the i5-8400 and 3300X are generally considered equals. Exact performance metrics won’t be known until Elden Ring finally releases on February 25.
