It will be a match between the two top teams of the LCK when the defending world champions from DWG KIA clash with Hanwha Life.

As the world champions, DWG KIA goes into the match with a lot of pressure on its shoulders. Pulling off a win against Hanwha Life has turned out to be a difficult task so far, but DWG KIA is without a doubt the team to stop the Hanwha Life train. Just like Hanwha Life, DWG KIA has also looked great this season except for an unfortunate loss against Fredit BRION. With a 4-1 record for both teams, this match is looking like a potential nailbiter.

After making big changes in the offseason, Hanwha Life is finally starting to ramp up and show its potential. Picking up mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon and bot laner Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu from DRX was one of the biggest scoops in the offseason, and now the investment is paying dividends. Hanwha Life had a slow start to the season with a lot of inconsistency, but that’s starting to change. The team is now on a four-series winning streak and DWG KIA will be the final boss.

So far, Hanwha Life has managed to take down teams including Fredit BRION, DRX, and even Gen.G, but DWG KIA will be a different beast. Hanwha Life will play around Chovy in the mid lane as per usual, and if he manages to snowball they might succeed.

On the other side of Summoner’s Rift is DWG KIA, who will enter the series with a lot of momentum after taking down Gen.G. DWG KIA recently lost a weird series to the LCK’s bottom team Fredit BRION, but has since then bounced back. The loss looked like a fluke and now mid laner Heo “ShowMaker” Su and the rest of his squad are back on track.

While Hanwha Life is looking to play through Chovy, DWG KIA has a lot of different ways to pick up a win. DWG KIA is a versatile team, with potential carries at all positions. The obvious choice would be for DWG KIA to match the pressure in the mid lane, but it might be wiser to look towards the bottom lane with help from jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu. Bot laner Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun has proven himself as a reliable carry, so Hanwha Life will have to watch out.

Hanwha Life is big underdog against DWG KIA in the LCK

As defending world champions, DWG KIA will be entering every match as the favorites. This puts a lot of pressure on the star-packed lineup, but so far it’s hard to imagine that they won’t live up to it. For Hanwha Life, the players will have to bring their absolute A-game to stand a chance. If that happens, both mid laner Chovy and bot laner Deft might be able to carry their team to a surprising victory.

A win for DWG KIA won’t grant more than an odds of 1.29 in this match, while Hanwha Life gives odds 3.25 for a win

The LCK top match between DWG KIA and Hanwha Life kicks off on January 29.
