Does Minecraft have crossplay? Only for some platforms
Looking to crossplay Minecraft with your friends? You’re probably in the clear.
Minecraft Bedrock edition has crossplay between all of its supported platforms. That means that players on consoles, PC, and mobile devices can all play together in the same Minecraft world.
Crossplay is a sought-after feature in multiplayer games, making it a must-have for the multiplayer sandbox. DLC purchases, such as the Sonic Anniversary pack, are available across any platform with the same account once you’ve purchased it.
The Bedrock edition of Minecraft supports full crossplay across all of its platforms. That list includes the following devices.
- Amazon Fire
- Android Mobile
- Apple Mobile
- Nintendo Switch
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 5
- Windows PC
- Xbox One
- Xbox Series
In addition to crossplay, Minecraft also has cross-progression. This means that if you begin a game on a console, you can continue playing in that world on a mobile device. The same is true for PC, tablets, and all other forms of Minecraft Bedrock. Cross-progression is a rare feature in video games, but Minecraft’s simple nature allows the developers to integrate all kinds of features.
Does Minecraft Java have crossplay?
Minecraft Java does not have crossplay with other versions of Minecraft. Java players can only play with other Minecraft Java users. Java is a PC-exclusive version of Minecraft with access to user-created mods and custom skins.
There are two different versions of Minecraft commercially available. Bedrock and Java run on different platforms and which version you use can greatly affect your crossplay experience. There are several differences between the two versions, including crossplay capabilities.
