Discord has decided to discontinue Nitro Games, a feature available to the messaging and communication platform’s premium subscribers.

Beginning October 15 this year, Discord Nitro users won’t be able to enjoy Nitro Games, a game library available to subscribers of Discord’s premium service. The library features some popular game titles, but it seems that not many Nitro users actually played them.

“After careful consideration, we won’t be hitting continue when these contracts come up for renewal,” the chat platform shared in its statement. “We’re going to double down on making sure Nitro nails its mission: more features, fun, and enhancements for hanging out in Discord with the people you care about.”

Discord is being considerate towards those who decided to join Nitro’s $9.99 monthly or $99.99 yearly subscription tiers to enjoy their game library, so they’re offering them a refund that has to be requested over a form.

For others, they’re promising enough content to balance out what is going to be lost once Nitro Games is shuttered in October, but they aren’t lowering the price of the subscription.

“Our $9.99 Nitro plan is in the workshop with a few recent additions and more on the way,” Discord shared.

What Nitro’s upcoming perks are is still unknown, however the platform developer has already added quite a few features to it. With the announcement of the game library’s cancelation, Discord reduced the number of boosts a server needs to reach a Level 3 Server Boost for additional perks from 50 to 20. The upload limit for Nitro users has also been doubled, and is now capped at 100 MB.

According to the company’s statement, Discord is looking to learn what the best new additional features for the Nitro service are through customer feedback, while still remaining free of ads and free to use in its basic form.

Games that have been purchased through Discord and Nitro Game Perks, such as in-game bundles, won’t be affected by the discontinuation of the Nitro Games library.
