Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett is no longer a part of Dignitas after a year with the team.

In a recent roster update, Dignitas announced that Dardoch is out. The veteran jungler was originally benched from the LCS roster in the middle of the LCS Summer Split’s third week. Dignitas has since used academy jungler Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham, who will also continue as the LCS starting jungler for Dignitas moving forward.

Dignitas did not disclose why Dardoch will be leaving the team but alluded to something that went on behind the scenes. According to Dignitas’ director of esports James Baker, something happened last Friday after the team lost to Golden Guardians. This incident involved Dardoch and ultimately led to his departure from the team.

This leaves Dardoch as a free agent with an uncertain future. Though he could technically end up anywhere, it’s likely that the 23-year-old jungler won’t return to the LCS for a while. With the ongoing split and an abundance of strong junglers in the league, it seems unlikely that Dardoch will find a spot.

Since first joining the LCS in 2015 with Team Liquid, Dardoch has been a part of eight different organizations in the league. He has moved in and out of the LCS and Academy for years and struggled to find a home for any length of time. Dardoch remains a talented player, which has invited speculation over possible landing spots.

Moving forward for Dignitas, the team will aim to bounce back in the LCS after a rough few weeks. The team is currently tied in fifth place with a 3-6 record this split. Due to the great performance in the spring split, Dignitas is still in playoff contention but will need to find some wins soon. Dignitas’ next game will be on Friday, June 25, against 100 Thieves which is in strong form at the moment.
