CwoosH retires to find new coaching role

Former Florida Mayhem player Johan “CWoosH” Klingestedt has announced his retirement from the stage.

CWoosH will now move into a coaching role heading into the second season of Overwatch League.

In his retirement announcement, CWoosH describes having maintained an interest in coaching since day one of his Overwatch career. After a two-month break from the game, he has decided to pursue his passion behind the scenes as a coach.

“Being a pro player has been so good to me and looking back at it all I’m very proud of what I’ve managed to do,” CwoosH said.

CWoosH was one of the six players released from the Mayhem in the offseason. The Mayhem ended their inaugural season in 11th place, just one spot above the winless Shanghai Dragons.

Citing knowledge gained as a professional Overwatch player, CwoosH says his experience will help give him insight that other coaches lacking playing experience might not have. He joins a few other players who have expressed interest in switching to a different role within esports, including Joe “Joemeister” Gramano and Christopher “Grimreality” Schaefer, who transferred to an assistant coaching role midway through season one.

Just a few hours after his original announcement, it was revealed that CWoosH would also be bringing his experience to aspiring players outside of Overwatch League via coaching platform Learn2Esport.

CwoosH has made clear, however, that his goal is returning to Overwatch League in a formal coaching position.
