Counter Logic Gaming partner with Pepsi
Counter Logic Gaming has a new sponsor, and it’s a big one.
PepsiCo has signed a deal with Madison Square Garden that will secure partnerships for CLG, as well as other applicable properties under the MSG brand.
The deal will start September 1, and from that date PepsiCo will sponsor MSG and all of its properties. PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew brand recently launched the Game Fuel League, a European Rocket League circuit.
PepsiCo will include CLG in future activations, and the deal presents a heavy focus towards esports.
“This historic partnership brings two iconic New York companies together and builds on PepsiCo’s strong presence in New York City and beyond,” said PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.
Good news is welcome news for Counter Logic Gaming fans. Despite constructing an impressive League of Legends roster in the wake of Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black’s move to 100 Thieves, CLG finished 8th in the 2018 NA LCS Spring Split. CLG missed the playoffs in its worst finish in the organization’s history. CLG is currently 5-3 after four weeks of play in the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split.
It is unclear how directly the partnership will affect Counter Logic Gaming’s League of Legends team. The partnership will begin following the conclusion of the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split, so aside from a possibly jersey change, CLG’s players probably won’t see much change.
Regardless of the League team’s performance, this comes off as a big win for CLG. One of the largest corporations in the world makes for one hell of a sponsor.
