Biofrost leaves TSM, takes break from professional play

Professional support player Vincent “Biofrost” Wang has officially left Team SoloMid and will be taking a break from competing at a professional level.

After a solid year with TSM, Biofrost will take “at least a split off” to focus on streaming and other opportunities. It was already known that Biofrost wouldn’t be the starting support for TSM in 2021 after former Suning player Hu “SwordArt” Shuo Chieh joined the team on a two-year contract.

It’s now official that Biofrost won’t play in the LCS next year, despite his many years of experience and four LCS trophies. It’s unknown if Biofrost was looking to join a new team or if his plan was to take a break regardless of potential offers.

“I want to do something else for a little bit of my time,” Biofrost said. “Whatever I do next, I will just put my full hundred percent into it.”

Biofrost says that he will take a break for at least a split, which means that the experienced support could potentially be away from the pro scene for a while. Biofrost notes that if he does come back, it will be with a lot of renewed energy.

For the time being, Biofrost will look to pursue streaming and see if that can become a new career path for him. It’s not the first time that professional players have taken a step back to pursue streaming, to then return to a team later. One of the most recent examples is Biofrost’s old teammate Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, who has now retired for good

Biofrost takes a break right after winning another LCS trophy for TSM in the summer split of 2020. The win gave TSM a ticket to the 2020 World Championship where they didn’t manage to perform. TSM ended Worlds with a 0-6 record, which has resulted in quite a lot of changes for the team including Biofrost leaving and Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg retiring to become the head coach

Biofrost and Doublelift

Why did Biofrost leave TSM?

Biofrost recently left TSM to take a break from professional play and because TSM signed a new support for the 2021 LCS season. TSM has signed the recent Worlds finalist SwordArt, who will take over after Biofrost didn’t manage to perform at Worlds 2020. Biofrost will now take a step back to pursue streaming and maybe return to a team during 2021.

Who are the members of TSM?

TSM has made quite a few changes for the 2021 LCS split, which means that the team won’t be easy to recognize. With players such as Biofrost, Doublelift, and Bjergsen gone, TSM will be rebuilding with a near completely new lineup.

TSM’s 2021 LCS lineup is:

Top – Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon

Jungle – Mingyi “Spica” Lu

Mid – Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage

Bot – Not official yet

Support – Hu “SwordArt” Shuo-Chieh
