Hogwarts Legacy is the immersive experience that Harry Potter fans have always wanted. The video game takes players on a journey through the Wizarding World, and it all starts at Hogwarts. In the school, players will get the opportunity to choose one of the four houses. This is a choice players only get to make once. If you are uncertain about your decision, here are the differences between houses in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, known as Hogwarts, is a wizarding school located in the Scottish Highlands. The student body is divided into four houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house corresponds to one of the school founders, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin, who created these houses with their own set of values in mind.

What are the houses in Hogwarts Legacy?

Gryffindor is the house of the brave and courageous. The wizards and witches from Gryffindor are known for their heroic acts and fearless attitude. Gryffindor is represented by a lion, and the colors of the house are red and gold.

Gryffindor students sleep in the Gryffindor Tower, located in the South Wing. The common room entrance is guarded by the Fat Lady, a talking portrait. Students who pick Gryffindor in Hogwarts Legacy will become acquainted with Garreth Weasley, Nellie Oggspire, Cressida Blum, and Natasi Onai, who becomes a quest companion later on.

Hufflepuff values hard work, dedication, and loyalty. Hufflepuff is the most inclusive house in the school, accepting students regardless of their background. This openness leads people to wrongfully believe that Hufflepuff takes the “leftover” students. Hufflepuff students have a strong moral code and are known for always choosing good over evil.

Hufflepuff is represented by the badger, and the house colors are yellow and black. The common room, known as the Hufflepuff Basement, is located near the kitchens. It is arguably the coziest common room in the game. Players who pick Hufflepuff will get to know Adelaide Oakes, Authur Plummly, Lenora Everleigh, and Poppy Sweeting.

Ravenclaw is the house of the wise and smart. Ravenclaw values wit, intelligence, and creativity, making it perhaps one of the most difficult houses to get into. Ravenclaw students are academically motivated and widely considered talented wizards and witches.

Ravenclaw is represented by the eagle with house colors blue and bronze. Ravenclaw students live in the Ravenclaw Tower. The entrance doesn’t have a password and is protected by an eagle head that gives students puzzles they must solve to enter the common room. As a Ravenclaw, players will get acquainted with Duncan Everett Clopton, Samantha Dare, and Amit Thakkar.

Slytherin values resourcefulness and ambition. Students from this house are known to be cunning and natural leaders. Slytherin is represented by the snake, and the house colors are green and silver. Slytherin students reside at the Slytherin Dungeon, and the common room has a view of the black lake.

As students of Slytherin, players get to befriend Ominis Gaunt, Imelda Reyes, and Sebastian Sallow, who has an important storyline in the game.

How is your house chosen in Hogwarts Legacy?

In Hogwarts Legacy, players get to pick their houses. The Sorting Hat will ask questions and suggest a house, but ultimately, the player is free to pick whatever house they want.

Does your house matter in Hogwarts Legacy?

The house you choose in Hogwarts Legacy will not affect the overall experience. The only real limitation is that students only get access to their assigned common room. Other houses are out of limits.

In terms of side quests and overall content, all houses get the same experience. One of the differences is the beginning of the Ghost of Our Love side quest. Each house has a different start for this quest and follows a different path that ultimately leads to the reward.
