All about Forza Horizon 5, from its game modes to DLC content
Forza Horizon 5 remains the premier arcade racing game for all consoles and PC.
With a massive open world to explore and hundreds of cars to collect, Forza Horizon 5 is still a must-buy racing game more than a year after its release date. A big part of its critical and commercial success stems from its varied game modes and extensive customization options. Here’s everything you need to know about Forza Horizon 5 in 2022.
What game modes are in Forza Horizon 5?
As a Forza game, Forza Horizon 5 is really just a sandbox for driving iconic cars. To that end, the game has several game modes to enjoy that all stem from the open world.
- Arcade open-world events
- Tour team races
- The Eliminator battle royale
- Open online matchmaking
All of these game modes are accessible from the Forza Horizon 5 open world, which effectively doubles as the game’s single-player content. Players are free to roam the Mexican countryside while discovering new race locations and forgotten vehicles.
Most of the modes mentioned above also offer cooperative versions so players can team up over the internet. All cooperative game modes require paid online access on consoles, but multiplayer access is free in the PC version of Forza Horizon 5.
How many cars are in Forza Horizon 5?
Forza Horizon 5 has more than 500 cars to collect through progression, discovery, and DLC. The game currently has cars from 94 different manufacturers from Buick to BMW to Bugatti.
Thanks to in-depth customization and tuning, there are effectively an infinite number of car variations possible in Forza Horizon 5. Everything from engine materials to suspension can be tuned and tested. The game’s custom paint system also means that players can make the same car look completely different depending on their aesthetic tastes.
How does DLC work in Forza Horizon 5?
Many of Forza Horizon 5’s cars aren’t available in the base game and must be purchased as DLC either individually or in packs.
Most individual DLC cars in Forza Horizon 5 cost $2.99 across all platforms. Both Steam and console versions also sell car packs that include several DLC cars for a discounted overall price. Lastly, players can purchase VIP status that grant exclusive cars, cosmetics, double race credits, bonus wheelspins, and more.
Planned future DLC content for Forza Horizon 5 also includes at least two map expansions that open up the Mexican wilderness to add new events and game modes. Details on these expansion packs, including their price, should be revealed closer to the end of 2022. PC players can preorder both expansions together for $34.99.
