The LCS reveals new rebrand ahead of 2021 season start

Another big rebrand has been revealed just a few days before the 2021 competitive season officially kicks off. This time it’s from the biggest North American league, LCS.

After years under the original LCS logo, the league is taking a turn in 2021 and starting off the year with a completely new look. The most notable change will be the new logo, where the LCS has moved in a completely new direction with a more clean and simple logo. The logo is formed like a diamond, spelling out LCS. Hopefully, this will create a fresh identity around the LCS through unique branding like the LEC has done over the past two seasons.

Up until now, the LCS has stuck to the original logo and brand from when Europe was included in the LCS brand. The European league rebranded for the 2019 season to what fans know as the LEC today. Now it looks like the LCS is finally ready for the next step as well and wants to create its own identity from scratch.

From now on, the LCS’ motto will be “Made by many” and “All for the game,” creating a feeling of unity and inclusion around the league. After big stars like Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng have retired this offseason, it’s time for the LCS to look for new branding opportunities and this is the first step in that direction.

The rebrand happened only a few days after the LCK made similar changes. As the LCK is entering a franchise system in 2021, the league revealed a complete rebrand with a new logo, graphics, and mottos. The same seems to be happening in the LCS, but the information about broadcast graphics is still unknown.

The LCS will officially be back on January 15 when the Lock In tournament kicks off.

When does the LCS 2021 start?

The 2021 LCS season already begins on January 15 with the new Lock In tournament. The tournament runs over two weeks and gives all LCS teams a chance to test out their new rosters before the real spring season begins. The winner of the Lock In tournament will also go home with $150,000. After the Lock In tournament follows the start of the spring season, which is set to begin on February 5.

Which teams play in the LCS?

The 10 teams in the LCS have not changed since the 2020 season, but the rosters will be very different. All teams will be competing in the new LCS format, which includes the Lock In tournament followed up by the spring and summer season so there will be a lot of new stuff to keep an eye on.
