Fans thought he was done, but controversial Twitch streamer and former Overwatch League pro Félix “xQc” Lengyel is back to professional Overwatch.

After a short-lived tenure with Dallas Fuel, xQc comes back to the Overwatch League at the Contenders level. The Canadian signed with the Los Angeles Gladiators Legion.

Shortly before the Overwatch World cup, xQc was banned for toxic behavior and publicly distanced himself from professional play.

“I don’t think I want to be a part of it anymore and give it all my energy and all my passion for it. I think I’m kind of done with it,” xQc said.

It seems xQc’s perspective has changed, as he has signed with the Legion to be a substitute tank behind Byung-ho “Panker” Lee. Panker has a two-way contract with the Legion Contenders team and with the Los Angeles Gladiators.

xQc’s popularity was referenced in the organization’s explanation for the signing, as was his experience playing for Team Canada in the Overwatch World Cup. No mention was made of any of the player’s past controversies, of which there have been a few.

These controversies have often included toxic behaviors, both on xQc’s Twitch stream and in the game. He was removed from the Dallas Fuel for displaying racial insensitivity, and had previously sat on the bench through the entire first stage on the inaugural season after hurling homophobic comments at Huston Outlaws player Austin “Muma” Wilmot, who is gay.

Since his departure from professional Overwatch following his participation in the Overwatch World Cup, xQc has branched out into other games such as the recently popularized Apex Legends and has branded himself as a variety streamer. This may change now that xQc is again committed to professional play.
