Popular streamer and former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive pro Michael “shroud” Grzesiek recently returned to Twitch after Microsoft’s Mixer streaming platform was shut down.

Many of shroud’s fans were perplexed by the choice, given that the popular streamer had been so adamant about his decision to leave Twitch before. He had even predicted that Mixer would surpass Twitch one day since he beleived that the since-failed platform offered better opportunities for new creators.

After a month of silence, shroud announced the move back to Twitch on Twitter.

Recently, shroud finally opened up as to why he went back to Twitch despite his ongoing criticisms of the streaming platform. Simply put, shroud told his fans that “Twitch is the best.”

He explained that he had been “born and raised” on the platform as a streamer, and that it has continued to be the biggest platform for gaming. For shroud, it just “felt right.”

shroud gets big viewer and subscriber numbers after Twitch return

So far, it seems that shroud has made the right choice. Upon his return to the platform, over 500,000 fans watched him play Valorant. Not only did he get an incredible number of concurrent viewers, but viewers donated thousands of subscriptions to his channel, in addition to the thousands of resubscriptions made throughout his comeback stream.

Shroud currently has 7,579,985 Twitch followers. He’s ranked number one on the platform, even after his months spent away.

“Twitch fits well with the big plans that I have in gaming. I might have some plans coming up soon… I’m not going to tell you just yet. There’s some cool things that I’m brewing up though! A lot of secrets are in my head right now, a lot,” shroud said.

Fortnite superstar Tyler “Ninja” Blevins recently returned to Twitch as well, although it’s still unclear if he’s back on the platform for good. With 14,991,844 followers, Ninja would definitely take that number one spot again if he were to return as a Twitch partner.
