Liquid are the last unbeaten LCS team after win over Clutch

Defending champion Team Liquid finished week two of the LCS Spring Split on a high note after defeating Clutch Gaming.

Liquid found its fourth consecutive win of the early season versus Clutch Gaming, as the defending champions took down the Texas-based team after 36 minutes of play.

The action started in the bot lane with a first blood just two minutes into the game in favor of Team Liquid. Clutch Gaming traded kills with Liquid and the ensuing pressure allowed Clutch jungler Nam “Lira” Tae-yoo to secure the first dragon of the game.

Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and his new support Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in continued playing an aggressive early game.  Liquid grew an early gold advantage that at 10 minutes was over two thousand strong.

Clutch Gaming managed to secure a second drake, but couldn’t close the gold gap. The aggression in the bottom lane continued, as the two teams exchanged blow-for-blow until Team Liquid destroyed the first turret.

The growing economic and map advantages allowed CoreJJ and Jake “Xmithie” Puchero to roam through the map. The support and jungler duo initiated fights and Doublelift expertly combined with Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen to deal the damage.

Jensen put fear in his rivals’ hearts with Aatrox. The mid laner found good engages and used great positioning to entrap multiple Clutch players in his abilities, capitalizing on some great engagements from CoreJJ in particular.

The game was best encapsulated by a fight in the river that Liquid managed to win despite being down a man. CoreJJ’s Braum ultimate perfectly set up Jensen to dive in and wreck Clutch Gaming.

Team Liquid’s composition scaled better and the players proved superior in team fights. At 34 minutes, Team Liquid secured the baron buff and killed three members of Clutch Gaming.

The ensuing siege was quick, and at 36 minutes, the defending champions closed week two as the lone remaining unbeaten team in the LCS.
