The second day of week two of the 2020 LCS Spring Split opened with a match between Team Liquid and FlyQuest.

Though Liquid entered the day coming off a disappointing loss against Dignitas, the team got no help as they faced an undefeated opponent. Despite that, Liquid managed to take the win to avoid a losing streak.

With Ornn, Jarvan, and Braum, Liquid secured a strong initiation lineup. Ironically, FlyQuest was looking for objective and crowd control with Senna and Syndra. Though the first few minutes of the game seemed calm, TL was getting strong lane pressure from the start. Shern “Shernfire” Cherng Tai took down the first Dragon only six minutes into the game.

Liquid took the second important objective, the Rift Herald, shortly after it spawned. The team used the opportunity to rotate top, pick up kills on Omran “V1per” Shoura and Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong, and take the first turret. TL was finally looking like the strong team fans expected it to be as Shernfire killed yet another Dragon with ease.

Liquid was snowballing through the mid game. Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen’s Zoe was a threat to every member of FLY. Regardless, FlyQuest tried contesting the second Herald of the game. The team took the opportunity when TL was split up, but Liquid was fast to answer and burst them down. They followed this up with another dragon, which left FlyQuest in a very difficult position.

FlyQuest’s players kept getting caught and chased down. TL was over 5,000 gold in the lead twenty minutes into the game, with all of its defenses still standing strong. The team just continued taking more and more away from FLY.

After FlyQuest failed in fighting Liquid for the Baron buff, the game was decided. Liquid immediately pushed all the way to FLY’s Nexus turrets. Last year’s champion made FLY look like easy pickings by the end of the game. TL finished the second week of 2020 LCS with a 2-2 record.

FlyQuest has another game tomorrow. The team will be fighting against Dignitas .
