Here are the 2020 League of Legends watch missions and rewards
The first 2020 League of Legends esports watch mission is live and Riot Games announced what players will need to do to earn their rewards for the spring season.
Similar to last season, players will be able to win prizes if they watch games from top regional leagues such as the LCS and LEC through the official LoL website. Depending on the number of games watched, different rewards will be given to players, with the highest prize coming after watching 90 games.
Five different rewards for the 2020 watch missions
Players will get a Surf ‘n’ Urf summoner icon by watching two games during the split. Six games will give them 1,000 Blue Essence, 18 bestows a Kai’Sa emote, and 30 grants a Hextech chest with a key.
The final prize is a Blown Away summoner icon with an esports enthusiast Teemo. Players will need to watch at least 90 games to gain the item.
Those that wish to grab these rewards don’t need to watch the games live, as VODs will progress the quest. This is not the case for rebroadcasts. Missions will be available until May 9th.
No Team or Fan Pass for the start of the 2020 season
The start of the 2020 season is just around the corner, and Team Pass and Fan Pass still aren’t available. Last year, players could purchase a Fan Pass to unlock premium watch missions for extra rewards, with Riot dedicating half the revenue from the pass sales towards regional teams.
Similarly, Team Pass was used to unlock missions that would give items unique to the related team including icons, emotes, and ward skins. These were unlocked by watching those specific teams compete.
Players were displeased with having to grind for rewards on a paid item, so Riot decided to take a step back and rethink in which way it wants to introduce team items back to the game.
“We’ve decided to head back to the lab on the product and are working on what we hope is a more fun, less ‘grindy’ experience that lets you drop some love to your favorite teams while watching games and show off your love along the way,” Riot shared.
