A big deal between 100 Thieves and Golden Guardians is reportedly underway.

During the offseason, 100 Thieves has verbally agreed to pick up Ian “FBI” Huang and Can “Closer” Çelik from Golden Guardians, according to Travis Gafford.

Both players are on contract with Golden Guardians through 2021, which means that 100 Thieves will have to buy out the two. According to Gafford, the transfer of the contracts will be complete when the player free agency window opens on November 16.

It is still unknown who Golden Guardians will replace the two talents with.

Golden Guardians had a solid 2020 season, where jungler Closer and bot laner FBI impressed the most on the team. FBI managed to prove himself once and for all after topping almost every stat among bot laners. The Turkish jungler Closer also made a statement with many carry performances throughout the year, proving that he is worth the import slot.

FBI will be replacing Liyu “Cody Sun” Sun in the bot lane at 100 Thieves, while Closer will take over in the jungle after Juan “Contractz” Garcia. 100 Thieves has a disappointing year in the LCS, despite a promising lineup. The team made it to the playoffs in both splits but went out in the early stages.

100 Thieves could be an LCS contender with FBI and Closer

FBI and Closer will likely bring a breath of fresh air to the team and a lot of individual skill. With veteran top laner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho in the top lane, the 100 Thieves squad suddenly looks like a solid playoff contender.

It’s not yet confirmed who 100 Thieves will be starting in the mid lane and support position, but it currently looks like it will be Australian Tommy “Ryoma” Le in mid and Philippe “Poome” Lavoie-Giuere as support. The team still has time to look for other options though, as FBI won’t count as an import after the OPL was shut down earlier this year

A final deal between 100 Thieves and Golden Guardians is expected on Monday, November 16.
