Roshan Pit fights are a little rarer now in 7.33, but this ward bug can guarantee you a snatch if used with the right hero.

Roshan is one of the most valuable things in Dota 2, right up there with tier-three towers and barracks. The Aegis of the Immortal is the game’s built-in win-more mechanic designed to close out games or give daring teams a fighting chance. However, one rule has always been that Roshan hates wards, and it’s impossible to get direct vision inside of the pit outside of abilities. That’s always been true until now.

Dota 2 players have discovered a bug that allows any hero to move wards around after they’ve been placed. This bug can be used for a variety of purposes, but the biggest one is getting a ward inside of Rosh. Here’s what it looks like in action and some tips for how to pull it off.

How to ward Roshan Pit using Eul’s Scepter

The bug involves using a Eul’s Scepter to subtly reposition a ward after it has already been placed.

This appears to involve Eul’s Scepter’s strange positioning quirks. When put in the air, heroes lose collision, which allows for things like perfect Requiem of Souls kills from Shadow Fiend. However, when heroes land, they displace things that are directly under them. In the case of wards, landing on them causes them to move away from the center of the hero’s collision box. The result is moving wards into places they shouldn’t be able to go.

In our testing, we were able to scoot the ward into Roshan Pit in four attempts by maximizing the distance moved with each Eul’s usage. We found that getting as close as possible to the ward, to the point where it overlaps with your hero, produces the best results. Use the positioning circle under your hero to make sure it will move in the right direction and get as close as possible to it. It’s easier to start opposite of the desired direction and input a move command beyond the ward, then issue a stop command to get the right spot.

We also discovered that heroes with smaller collision boxes move the wards a shorter distance. That makes this trick much harder to perform with Hoodwink, Phantom Lancer, Naga Siren, Monkey King, Meepo, and Lycan. Considering none of these heroes tend to buy Eul’s anyway, it should stop you from abusing the bug.
