Virtus.pro have confirmed that their Dota 2 team has lost its coach.
VP admitted the departure of coach Ivan “Artstyle” Antonov. Before the group stage of The International 2018, VP made a huge announcement that the organization would be keeping their Dota 2 roster together through the end of 2019. The announcement included a banner featuring the five players and hinted that the coach did not receive a similar contract extension.
Artstyle made a great contribution to VPās success during their recent run through the Dota Pro Circuit. He began his tenure with the team in March 2017. He led the squad to four major titles, over $2.5 million in winnings, and a Mercedes-Benz car. Through his coaching, VP was built to the powerhouse they are today.
The team claimed the top spot in the DPC rankings and entered TI8 as a strong contender to take the Aegis of Champions. Although the team had a tough journey through the lower bracket, it managed to place fifth in the stacked field of competitors. This was no mean feat, but still seen as a disappointment for a team of VPās caliber.
āI want to say many thanks to the players for the time spent together. It was not just my best experience in Dota, but also the best period in my life⦠I want to apologize for not meeting your expectations for the International,ā said Artstyle.
In the next DPC season, VP fans expect their Dota 2 roster to rise once again and this time to claim the next Aegis of Champions.
