TI 2023 is fast approaching, and Dota 2 fans can finally celebrate with the in-game compendium.

While the days of an arcana and immortal-stocked battle pass are over, Dota 2 fans still have plenty to celebrate with today’s update. The International 2023 Celebration Update, which was released on September 27, 2023, has added in-game support for the year’s biggest esports event with plenty of ways for players to get involved. Here’s how the new Compendium system works and what players can earn by both purchasing and earning additional levels.

The new TI 2023 Compendium is a throwback, finally bringing back the old Compendium name from the earlier years of The International. The bundle, which starts at $7.50 with a premium version at $30, grants access to the Compendium while also contributing to the prize pool of the event. Players can then earn or purchase levels towards unlocking a variety of rewards.

TI 2023 Compendium rewards include voice lines, HUD, fantasy

The Compendium for TI 2023 rewards include chat voice lines, team and player stickers, loading screens, teleport effects, and a custom HUD skin.

There are a wide variety of ways for players to earn levels for free, including winning with heroes based on previous matches at TI and performing well in the new fantasy system. Valve also added a randomized bingo card system where players earn points automatically for random happenings, such as ultra kills or hero combinations, in each stage of the tournament.

As is tradition, it is also possible for fans to earn their very own miniature Aegis of Champions through the update. At 300 levels, fans become entitled to a tiny copy of the iconic trophy to be shipped to their homes. 300 appears to be the max level for rewards aside from the infinite options, which also makes this year’s Aegis the easiest to obtain yet. No word on Roshan statues, of course.

As Valve previously explained, this year’s The International update does not contain any new skins for heroes. This is part of Valve’s new model that veers away from mass content releases towards more seasonal events. This is a big disappointment for many fans, and it will likely have a negative impact on the total prize pool. Expect to see a battle pass with alternate game modes, immortals, and arcanas come out sometime after The International 2023 concludes on October 29, 2023.
