The TI10 Battle Pass launch is delaying rewards, crashing servers
When The International 10 Battle Pass launched in Dota 2, fans of the game were stoked. Players have been calling for an early release for months now and even though it actually arrived behind schedule, it had enough cool new features to make it feel like it was worth the wait.
Naturally, that had fans scrambling onto their Dota 2 client in order to purchase the battle pass. Though the sizable update actually installed for most users without issue, fans were walled out of actually making a purchase for hours after its launch.
Initially players were stricken with server issues that gave them the Dota 2 game coordinator error messages or forced them into using offline mode. This lasted for an extended period of time, with Valve issuing a tweet on the official Dota 2 account to acknowledge the outage.
We are aware of the outages going on right now, we are working on repairing them as soon as possible.

Things even got so bad that even the official Dota 2 website eventually crashed.
Hours later, players were able to connect to the Dota 2 game coordinator and even enter into matchmaking queues. Getting the TI10 Battle Pass was another matter, though.
Though players could access the menus of the battle pass and see what it had to offer, attempts to purchase it were met with “timed out waiting for a response to the purchase request, please try again later,” and “checkout unavailable at this time” error messages.
Once a player does purchase a Battle Pass, there’s no gaurantee that they’ll actually be able to access the rewards they’ve paid for. All told, it has been a frustrating launch for Dota 2 fans.
The prolonged gridlock led many to gripe about the troubles on social media.
“Every year, same shit. Two hours and we can’t login. We can’t play. We can’t do any shit…Great customer and network service,” said one user on
Twitter.
“Valve I love the new intro video, just watched it 50 times. Can I buy a BP now?” said a
Redditor.
The gridlock eventually subsided and users were eventually able to access the shop, but even that wasn’t a particularly smooth experience after several hours.
This is par for the course with Valve, and it hasn’t stopped the TI Battle Pass from being bigger each year. It’s far too early to tell, but it could be that this year’s Battle Pass will set yet another record in spite of these early issues.
