Black Ops 6 release date is approaching, and more details are pouring in. While the return of traditional Prestige is a hit, changes announced for Scorestreak in Black Ops 6 are sparking controversy.

Black Ops games so far have allowed players to loop their streaks. This means, essentially, that players can earn continuous streaks in a single game as long as their character remains alive. After a player has earned their three streaks, they can essentially reset them. They also don’t lose their previous streaks if they happen to die.

These days are now over, as explained by Matt Scronce, the associate director of design at Treyarch. During an episode of COD POD, the developer revealed that streaks would reset when a character dies. Also, once a player reaches their three-streak limit, they will have to rest them, i.e., die.

Why did Black Ops 6 remove Scorestreak looping?

According to the developer, the decision was made to avoid “Scorestreak spam.” Top players have especially taken advantage of Scorestreak looping, which allows them to try to beat previous streaks without killing their character first.

“But we really want to avoid scorestreak spam. That’s something I personally just really don’t like. I know a lot of players don’t like it,” Scronce said.

Ever since this announcement hit the web, the community has been torn. Some top players think that this messes with their game and makes it harder for them to stack streaks, as they’ll have to kill their characters over and over again. Others have a different view. The way some see it, removing the ability to loop steaks makes it fairer to everyone and not just those who already have a headstart.

Regardless of opinion, this is a major change to the Black Ops games, and it will be interesting to see how it affects gameplay, if at all. This announcement is also one of the many we’ve gotten so far. Treyarch has confirmed the start dates and platforms for the Black Ops 6 open beta version of the game, and fans’ excitement is reaching fever-pitch.
