Riot Games Korea has announced Griffin’s Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon as the regular season MVP of the LCK Spring Split, as the mid laner narrowly surpassed bot laner Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu.

After an intense regular season, Chovy was crowned as the MVP of the season with 1,300 points, equivalent to 13 MVP awards. The mid laner was tied through the majority of the split with Deft from Kingzone DragonX, who finished the season with 1,200 points.

This is Chovy’s second split in the LCK, as the player only became eligible to play in Korea’s top tier of League of Legends in March 2018 when he turned 17. Chovy was also the player with the most solo kills, collecting 16.

Chovy’s team Griffin conquered the regular season and the stats shared by Riot Games Korea are proof of the outstanding performance from the rookie team both as a whole and from its individual members.

The KDA ladder rewards the players with the highest KDA in each role. The ranking included Griffin’s jungler Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong, bot laner Park “Viper” Do-hyeon, support Son “Lehends” Si-woo, and Chovy. In the top lane, the top spot went to Kim “Khan” Dong-ha from SK Telecom T1.

SKT’s bot laner Park “Teddy” Jin-seong had the most total kills of the season with 161. The assists leader for the season was Griffin’s Lehends with 348, reflecting Griffin’s lethality in games and Lehends’ ability to participate and trigger many of his team’s successful kills. Lehends was followed by Kingzone DragonX support Park “TusiN” Jong-ik with 316.

Griffin finished the season in first place with 15 victories and three losses and qualified directly to the 2019 LCK Spring Split finals. The winner of that finals series will take part in the Mid-Season Invitational, which is set to start on May 1 in Vietnam and Taiwan.

If Griffin were to win the finals series in Korea, the Mid-Season Invitational would be the team’s first international event.
