Team Liquid League of Legends team has health scare, plays at home
Team Liquid's League of Legends team is no longer able to compete from the Alienware Training Facility after a health scare.
The Team Liquid LoL account shared that the squad will no longer be competing from the facility under the same roof due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19. The organization didn't specify who had tested positive for COVID, but stated that the individual would be getting tested again to see if they really were positive or if they had a "false positive" result the first time around.
According to Team Liquid, the individual has experienced no symptoms. Still, the organization ruled that everyone working and practicing at the facility had to immediately begin working from home. Everyone who was at the facility, including the League of Legends team and its coaching staff, was tested. While the team plays from home, the facility will undergo a "deep cleaning."
"Our first priority is the health and safety of all players and staff," Team Liquid stated. "Our players will be competing from their homes for the foreseeable future, and we will follow all LA County guidelines on sanitization, contact tracing, and quarantining before returning to the facility."
The League of Legends community immediately wished Team Liquid good health and a quick recovery. FlyQuest said to "stay safe."
While the transparency won Team Liquid a lot of applause and support on Twitter, LCS viewers are left wondering how Team Liquid's performance will fare now that everyone is playing separately and from their own homes. Team Liquid currently has a 9-5 record, putting them at fourth place in the LCS standings. The team has already proven a bit underwhelming thus far in the spring split, though they have continued to beat Cloud9 whenever the two top teams come face to face.
