Vitality adds Crownshot as new starting bot laner, replaces Comp
After a poor start to the 2021 LEC Spring Split, Vitality has made the decision to make an early-season swap in the bottom lane. As Crownshot didn’t find a suitable team in the LEC or LCS for the 2021 season, the talented bot laner has watched from the sidelines up until now. Crownshot will replace Markos “Comp” Stamkopoulos starting from this week where Vitality will be up against Excel Esports and his former team SK Gaming.
We are adding @CrownshotLoL to our LEC team, effective immediately. 🤩— Team Vitality 🐝 (@TeamVitality) February 9, 2021
We felt a strong voice was needed to lead our team on the Rift and found in Crownshot a good match. He will start in the AD carry position on Friday. #VITWIN pic.twitter.com/sT9szosVZ4
The fact that Vitality is already making changes to its starting lineup shouldn’t come as a big surprise. So far, the team is sitting at the bottom of the standings alongside Astralis with a 1-6 record. To start getting some wins, it’s clear that something has to change in the team, and Crownshot might be the change it needs. Since his last game with SK Gaming, Crownshot had been signed with Gen.G as a streamer. That will end now after just one month.
During his time at SK Gaming, Crownshot was often the shining light for the team and generally a consistent player. While Crownshot never manahed a big result with SK Gaming, he could be the right guy to improve Vitality and avoid a bottom-place finish in the split.
Replacing Comp also means that the Greek bot lane of Vitality won’t be playing together for the first time since May last year. Support Labros “Labrov” Papoutsakis will therefore need some time to build up synergy with Crownshot, which is why the bot lane might not perform to their best right from the beginning. According to Vitality, Comp will remain with the team and continue practicing.
“Despite the arrival of Crownshot, we still want to renew our confidence in Comp,” Vitality said. “We have no doubt about his potential and he will keep training hard to make things work.”
Crownshot will play his first game under the Vitality banner on February 12 against Excel Gaming.
