Evil Geniuses heads to LCS Lock In semifinals to face Team Liquid

Evil Geniuses has qualified for the semifinals of the LCS Lock In with a solid win against Golden Guardians.  

After impressing in the LCS Lock In group stage, Evil Geniuses took on Golden Guardians in the quarterfinals where they took a dominant win. In just two games, the revamped Evil Geniuses lineup ran over the young talents from Golden Guardians, albeit after a bumpy game one. Evil Geniuses will advance to the semifinals where they have the chance to qualify for the organization since returning to League of Legends. 

The first game of the series ran fairly long at 37 minutes, but the game had the feel of an Evil Geniuses victory all the way through. Evil Geniuses went for a strong early-game composition with Renekton in the top lane and Nidalee in the jungle. The aggressive draft set Evil Geniuses up for a solid early game. 

Despite a few hiccups, Evil Geniuses managed to get the Mountain Soul and from that point, there was nothing Golden Guardians could do. Golden Guardians mid laner Nicholas “Ablazeolive” Abbott tried his hardest on Orianna to turn the game around, to no avail. 

For game two, there was nothing Golden Guardians could do. Evil Geniuses had the momentum and took complete advantage of it. Once again, Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen picked a carry champion in the jungle and it paid off for Evil Geniuses. In just 27 minutes, the team took down Golden Guardians with 18 kills to six. 

Impact continues dominance after joining Evil Geniuses

While Svenskeren had a blast in the jungle, it was Evil Geniuses top laner Jeong “Impact” Eon-young who was the player of the series. The veteran has been on fire since joining Evil Geniuses for the 2021 season and is likely the best top laner in the LCS right now. Impact has showcased dominance on both Renekton and Gragas during the LCS Lock In, with those champions being among the strongest in the current meta. 

If Impact keeps up his recent form, it will be hard for other top laners to match him when the spring season comes. 

With this win, Evil Geniuses is ready for the semifinals where they will face off against Team Liquid. EG and Liquid have looked the strongest in the LCS Lock In so far, so it should be an intense brawl.

The semifinal between Evil Geniuses and Liquid kicks off on January 30. 

Who is playing for Evil Geniuses in 2021?

For the 2021 season, Evil Geniuses has swapped out players from both its top and bottom lanes to make the roster even more competitive. After a shaky season in 2020, Evil Geniuses wants to finally be a contender for LCS trophies and this roster might be able to do that. 

The Evil Geniuses 2021 LCS roster is:

Did Evil Geniuses make it to Worlds 2020?

Evil Geniuses didn’t participate in the 2020 World Championship because of a lackluster performance in the 2020 LCS Summer Split. While Evil Geniuses had some great games the team wasn’t consistent enough, which resulted in a shared fifth-place spot in the playoffs.
