According to Jacob Wolf, FlyQuest has acquired three players from Cloud9, being top laner Eric “Licorice” Ritchie, mid laner Cristian “Palafox” Palafox, and support David “Diamond” Bérubé.

After a number of notable exits from the team, FlyQuest is set to plug some of the gaps with Licorice, Palafox, and Diamond. Licorice is a well-known player in the LCS and one of the best top laners in the region. Palafox and Diamond are getting a shot in the LCS after a successful run in the academy league. This marks the start of a new era for FlyQuest, which is betting on locally grown talent instead of high-profile imports. All three players got their start in Cloud9 Academy and found their way to the main stage in two years or less.

This isn’t the first time that Cloud9 has sold off a group of players as a package deal. Though terms of the deal weren’t discussed, Cloud9 is reaping the benefits of its investment in young talent.

FlyQuest is also set to be a very different team in 2021, despite having a very successful 2020. The biggest name in the roster is Licorice and the pieces around him are not looking as strong as the former roster. Still, Cloud9 players shouldn’t be underestimated, whether they come form Academy or LCS. These are players that show up when the team needs them the most.

Who else is joining FlyQuest or the 2021 LCS season?

There are still two positions open in FlyQuest. Rumors suggest that Argentinian jungler Brandon “Josedeodo” Villegas will be joining FlyQuest. On Twitter, the jungler posted a series of American flags, hinting at a move to the LCS.

The final position is the ADC. Jason “WildTurtle” Tran is not confirmed to be returning to the team next season, with the list of possible replacements including Matthew “Deftly” Chen from Evil Geniuses Academy and Johnson “Johnsun” Nguyen from Dignitas. The jungle and ADC are yet to be confirmed and the future of top laner Colin “Solo” Earnest is uncertain at the moment.
