SandBox Network will enter the biggest League of Legends stage in Korea after acquiring the roster and LCK spot of Team BattleComics.

Team BattleComics earned its spot after defeating MVP in the LCK 2019 Spring Promotion series. The team was founded in 2017 and started competing in Challengers Korea during the 2017 spring split. The roster has now been acquired by SandBox, giving the team new official backing.

SandBox Network is a digital entertainment company based in South Korea. The network connects content creators with creative teams organizing around unique collaborations. Through its partnership program, SandBox Network support a number of Korean content creators, most of whom focus on content related to gaming.

SANDBOX Gaming is the first competitive team owned by the company. Before they compete in the LCK, the squad is taking part in the KeSPA Cup. In the qualifying rounds, SANDBOX Gaming defeated Winners and earned a match with Gen.G in the next stage.

The organization joins Griffin among the new wave of challenger teams looking to overtake the LCK.

The team has consisted mostly of rookies to the LCK, and recently announced the acquisition of Eun “Totoro” Jong-seop. Totoro joins SANDBOX after a year spent with Unicorns of Love in the EU LCS. Unicorns of Love didn’t perform particularly well with Totoro on the squad, but SANDBOX will hope to see better form from him now that he’s back home in Korea.

Park “Summit” Woo-tae is the second major recruit for SANDBOX. The former Afreeca Freecs top laner shared his playing time with Kim “Kiin” Gi-in last season, generally riding the bench. In SANDBOX, Summit will share playing time with Choi “Wizer” Ui-seok.

SANDBOX will look to rock the boat in the LCK when the top Korean league returns on January 16.
