Splyce rebrand to MAD Lions, introduce new roster for LEC Spring
There's a new team coming to the LEC in 2020.
Splyce has officially rebranded to MAD Lions, making the announcement earlier today. This comes with a brand new logo and an entirely new roster. Despite making it through the LEC gauntlet and qualifying for Worlds, Splyce's squad disbanded. The organization is now coming back with a roster full of rookies.
Mid laner Marek "Humanoid" Brazda will be joined by 18-year-old jungler Zhiqiang "Shadow" Zhao and 17-year-old AD carry Matyas "Carzzy" Orsag. Former mousesports support Norman "Gistick" Kaiser and top laner Andrei "Orome" Popa round out the team. James “Mac” MacCormack will be coaching the young squad going into the Spring Split.
The new roster is just one part of the overall MAD Lions rebrand, which also includes a "revamped logo, colors, and tone of voice." The logo features a gold lion wearing a crown with seven stars underneath its mouth.
According to OverActive Media Group's official press release, the rebranding was led by two MAD Lions YouTube streamers and influencers, Vegetta777 and WillyRex. Their role as content strategists will include the promotion of Hispanic culture "to the main stage of LEC and around the world."
OverActive Media Group's CEO and president Chris Overolt called the rebranding a "step forward" in growing the brand globally.
"There is so much that Hispanic culture offers the world and we are ready to bring that unique flavor to League of Legends fans throughout Europe," MAD Lions president Jorge Schunra said.
