Super, sinatraa to appear on Tonight Show after OWL Season 2 win

Steven R. October 4, 2019

Appearing on The Tonight Show after winning a major esports event it starting to become a bit of a tradition.

San Francisco Shock players Jay "sinatraa" Won and Matthew "super" DeLisi will be sitting down with Jimmy Fallon on Monday’s installment of the show. The players revealed the news on Twitter.

“Incredibly excited to announce sinatraa and I will be on The Tonight Show this coming Monday,” Super said. “I remember watching the Tonight Show all the time, but never imagined I'd be on the show. Life hits you fast.”

The news comes following a wildly successful season for the Shock. The organization appeared in the grand finals of all three stage playoffs during the second season of the Overwatch League, and earned a spot in the Season 2 playoffs from there.

Things started off hairy for the franchise once in the playoffs, as it was sent to the lower bracket after losing to the Atlanta Reign in the first round. According to Sinatraa, that lit a fire under the team that resulted in it sweeping its way through the remainder of the playoffs.

San Francisco earned a spot in the grand finals by taking 4-0 wins over the London Spitfire, Los Angeles Gladiators, Hangzhou Spark, and New York Excelsior. That momentum carried over to the grand finals, where the Shock posted another sweep over the Vancouver Titans.

The Shock completed an amazing run in Overwatch League Season 2 and that is landing them under some brighter spotlights. The Tonight Show remains one of the most popular talk shows in the world and its producers seem to have taken an interest in esports.

Following the Fortnite World Cup, Fallon hosted Solo Finals winner Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf on the show. He also previously spoke with Tyler “Ninja” Blevins.

Whether this becomes the norm for the show remains to be seen, but if an LCS team comes out on top at the 2019 League of Legends World Championship, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them appear on the show as well.
