Both the Boston Uprising and Seoul Dynasty have announced the release of numerous players ahead of season two of the Overwatch League.

The Uprising released a total of four players to free agency, while the Dynasty released three players and transferred one.

Boston Uprising started their releases by removing support players Connor “Avast” Prince and Mikias “Snow” Yohannes, and tank player Shin “Kalios” Woo-Yul, from the team. Just a few days later, DPS player Stanislav “Mistakes” Danilov was also released.

Each player was given a personal message from Kraft Group gaming president Chris Loranger on Twitter, highlighting each of the players strengths and wishing them all the best in the future. Loranger quoted that Mistakes was the best player on the day of the OWL finals in his message, so it is unclear why the Russian player was released from the team.

The Seoul Dynasty announced their released players on Twitter in a message, saying goodbye to support player Moon “Gido” Gido, DPS player Seokwoo “Wekeed” Choi, and tank player Gong “Miro” Jinkyeok. The releases were not the first change to the Dynasty roster, with support player Heo “Gambler” Jin-woo retiring earlier in the offseason. Gambler moved to become a full-time streamer for the Dynasty’s parent company, Gen G.

The Houston Outlaws have also made changes, with two of their roster moving to non-player positions and one being released. DPS players Lucas “Mendokusaii” Håkansson and Matthew “Clockwork” Dias were both transferred within the organisation. Mendokusaii will be helping with content creation, a decision he stated on his twitter as being good for his mental health. Tank player Russell “FCTFCTN” Campbell was released to free agency.

Each of the players released will be available to be signed by other Overwatch League teams after September 9, with each team needing eight players by December 1. Until then, each of the players are considered free agents. With eight expansion teams joining the league for season two, it’s entirely possible that the players will return elsewhere.
