Rogue vs. Misfits Gaming: 2021 LEC Summer betting analysis

Reading time: 3 min

A direct battle for first place in the LEC is underway when Rogue takes on Misfits Gaming on the first day of week 5.

After a great start to the split for both teams, it’s time to find out who the top team of the 2021 LEC Summer Split really is. Rogue was inches away from winning the trophy in the spring and is now back for vengeance, while Misfits has ramped up this split and is looking to be another new contender. All this while teams like G2 Esports and MAD Lions are struggling, leaving these teams to look at a golden opportunity to run away with a lead halfway through the regular split.

Rogue will enter the match in the best shape after winning four games in a row. Rogue ended last week with an important win over the defending champion MAD Lions and will be full of confidence against Misfits. After a few losses during the first two weeks, Rogue is starting to look like the team that went all the way to the final last split. Jungler Kacper “Inspired” Słoma has been slaughtering his opponents so far and will once again be the key to victory.

For Misfits, this split has been better than many would have expected so far. The team has showcased the early-game strength that has previously been lacking and is starting to look like a real threat. Mid laner Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié has entertained fans this split with his rapid development since entering the LEC this year. Assisted by long-standing jungler Iván “Razork” Díaz, the mid and jungle duo is looking like Misfits’ biggest asset.

The matchup itself will likely turn out very interesting since both teams like to play aggressively in the jungle and try to get the mid lane ahead. For Rogue, Emil “Larssen” Larsson tends to play a bit more conservatively while Misfits will want to get Vetheo a lead. A lot will come down to how Inspired and Razork move around the jungle and who gets the best start to the game.

It’s expected that both junglers will opt into champions that can carry, which could set up for a bloody duel. In the bot lane, it could turn into a fairly slow laning phase as both teams are happy with playing for the late game in bot. Unless Rogue support Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus make some aggressive plays happen, it could be a lot of farming down bot until the team fights break out.

Rogue favored to have an edge over Misfits in LEC

Based on the performance of this split, many would have probably predicted the bookmakers to have this match more even in the odds. Because of Rogue’s recent four-game winning streak and its achievements in the last split, the team will be fairly heavily favored against Misfits. The odds seem fairly uneven when considering how good Misfits has been this split, so we might be looking at a great chance of catching a high odds on Misfits. With that said, it’s fair to favor Rogue in this matchup, but it seems closer than the odds indicate.

For Rogue to win this one, only an odds of 1.49 can be acquired while a win for Misfits will give a much higher odds of 2.44. Considering recent results, these odds should likely be a bit closer, so betting on Misfits seems like a valuable option this time around.

The first-place match between Rogue and Misfits takes place on Friday, July 9.
