Quincy Crew’s Malthe “Biver” Winther has announced that he will be taking a break from the competitive Dota 2 scene.

The Dane cites both fatigue and lack of motivation as the driving factors behind this decision. In his official TwitLonger statement, Biver said that he plans to return but will be taking a break for an indefinite length of time.

“In the last month or so, I’ve been dealing with feelings of fatigue and slowly felt my motivation slip away…it’s been particularly challenging to find the joy of playing. Continuing like this just isn’t beneficial to myself nor my teammates. I’m gonna take some time off, gain a bit of perspective on things and see where that takes me,” Biver said.

Brazillian offlaner Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos, who most recently played for Ninjas in Pyjamas, will be serving as a stand-in for Quincy Crew for its upcoming event. Arif “MSS” Anwar will be moving from the offlane to a support role.

Although MSS’s role swap might come as a surprise, he is no stranger to the support position as he has played it in the past during his time with VGJ.Storm.

Lelis, previously known as Liposa, is a well-known figure in the Brazilian Dota 2 scene. Lelis has played for a number of successful Brazilian teams including SG e-sports and paiN Gaming. He became a hot free agent earlier this year when he played with beastcoast as a substitute in the DreamLeague Season 13 major, helping the team earn a top-eight finish.

Biver joined Quincy Crew while they were still playing under the Chaos Esports Club banner in February, after parting ways with Ninjas in Pyjamas. The team was released by the organization, but stuck together and quickly asserted themselves as one of North America’s premier Dota 2 squads.

Before heading to North America, Biver made a name for himself as a journeyman that typically competed for high-level teams. A globetrotter in his own right, Biver has competed around the world for teams ranging from Natus Vincere to Infamous.
