Virtus.pro, one of the most prominent organizations in Dota 2, has announced the formation of an academy roster, VP.Prodigy. The second squad will be made of young, talented pub stars from the CIS region.

Virtus.pro General Manager Sergey Glamazda stated on VP’s official website that the team “allows young players to attain professional scene experience and knowledge without the enormous pressure of instant result expectation”

Things have been tough for Virtus.pro in the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit season so far.

The loss of Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev, Pavel “9pasha” Khvastunov, and Vladimir “RodjER” Nikogosyan following The International 2019 has proven to be a major handicap for the Russian organization. The replacements for RAMZES666 and RodjER were young pubstars Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko and Vitaly “Save-” Melnik, with the former being only 17 years old and the latter being 19.

Their time with the main roster proved to be fairly short, with the organization posting inconsistent performances throughout. They were replaced in the starting lineup by Zaur “Cooman” Shakhmurzaev and Bakyt “Zayac” Emilzhanov in February.

Both epileptick1d and Save- have been announced as members of the new team. The inaugural VP.Prodigy roster stands as follows:

  1. Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko
  2. Rostislav “fn” Lozovoi
  3. Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin
  4. Vitaly “Save-” Melnik
  5. Albert “yume” Garayev

Joining them will be yume, DM, and fn.

Though VP.Prodigy is supposed to be an academy team, fn is an experienced player. He has played for a number of notable teams such as Power Rangers, Vega Squadron, and Team Empire throughout a career spanning over six years.

The team’s new offlaner will be DM, who has been active throughout the season. He placed third at Dota Summit 11 with HellRaisers, and attended the DreamLeague Leipzig Major with Chaos Esports Club.

yume has been around the CIS scene for some time now, playing with the likes of M19, Gambit Esports, and Team Singularity. He will be playing as the team’s hard support.

The new squad will be making its debut at the GGBet StayHome Challenge on April 2 versus Danil “Dendi” Ishutin’s organization B8.
