Newbee’s underwhelming performance in the new Dota Pro Circuit season has resulted in their decision to bench two of their starting players.

Following the results of the Bucharest Minor China qualifier, Newbee announced that Xu “Moogy” Han and He “inflame” Yongzheng will be moving to inactive status.

In a Twitter post, Newbee indicated that the movement was caused by the player’s and team’s poor performance in tournament play. Two of the team’s coaches will substitute in for the ESL One Katowice 2019 open qualifiers.

Newbee had a hard time staying relevant after a big win at ESL One Genting earlier this year. Surprisingly, they were the first squad to exit the main event at The International 2018. Newbee was eliminated by Winstrike Team , who were considered major underdogs prior to the bout.

Newbee underwent several roster changes following the loss. The team parted ways with Damien “kpii” Chok and Hu “KaKa” Liangzhi, and lost coach Wang “Sansheng” Zhaohui.

Newbee recruited Inflame shortly after. They also promoted Tang “CatYou” Xiaolei from the Newbee.Young academy team, but let him go after just two weeks of play.

The new DPC circuit run has riddled with disappointing early results for Newbee. The team failed to qualify to any of the major tournaments, and was unable to even find its way into a minor tournament. There is a small silver lining for the team with a top-two finish in the recent 2018 Sanya DOTA2 New-Stars Play qualifier.

Currently, Newbee is still on the process of looking for the right persons to complete the team and try to bring a return to the dominance the squad once had in 2017.
