Team Serenity bag first trophy at WSOE
The Chinese underdogs at Team Serenity continue to show their strength with their first live event victory at the World Showdown of Esports.
After defeating HAPPY GUYS by a 2-1 margin, J.Storm secured a spot in the grand finals where they would meet Serenity.
The final series between J.Storm and Team Serenity started with a game lasting 58 minutes and featuring numerous swings of momentum. The game’s early phase was packed with action as both teams traded kills and towers. Zhang "Zyd"' Daquan’s Medusa was dominated by J.Storm with David "Moo" Hull’s Morphling, with the latter carry hero topping the net worth charts at 20 minutes.
Team Serenity started to group up, with Zyd was making a significant impact during team fights. In the late game, J.Storm was caught out of position as they attempted a defense of their top barracks. Even after Moo bought back to dive into the fray, the clash and game went in favor of Team Serenity.
The second game lasted even longer at 78 minutes and showcased epic team fights and impressive plays from both teams. Similar to game one, the early trades were fair, but Team Serenity would manage to take down the barracks of J.Storm.
J.Storm tried to defend their tier four towers and ancient against mega creeps, but Team Serenity forced them to engage in a team fight as their towers were continuously being chipped away. A lost clash in the middle lane gave Team Serenity the opportunity to destroy the J.Storm throne. Game two ended with the kill count at a dramatic 64-62 in favor of Team Serenity.
The World Showdown of Esports was held at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas and boasted a total prize pool of $100,000.
Team Serenity took home a prize of $50,000 for finishing first at the debut event.
