Team Liquid top laner Jeong “Impact” Eon-Young injured his neck after getting in a car accident in the late evening on July 18.

Impact tweeted that night that the Uber he had been riding in crashed. An image of the wreck was included in the tweet, displaying the details of the collision. Impact’s Uber lies in the middle of the road with visible damage done to the right side of the vehicle as well as the front headlights. Another car rests nearby, its front wheels pulled over the sidewalk with noticeable dents and scratches on the left side.

Impact says he feels lucky to be alive.

He tweeted an update two hours later from the hospital, sharing a photo of himself in a neckbrace. A follow-up was later shared which included Team Liquid Academy’s mid laner David “Insanity” Challe sitting next to Impact also wearing a neck brace.

Despite his injury, Impact was in surprisingly good spirits, even jokingly writing “Top Alive,” a play on the “top die” meme Impact has made famous.

The community offered the two Team Liquid players comforting messages, including fellow pros Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Greyson “Goldenglue” Gilmer, and Omran “V1per” Shoura.

The severity of Impact and Instanity’s injuries is currently unknown. It is also uncertain whether or not the accident will prevent the pair from participating in any upcoming matches. Team Liquid is scheduled to face off against Clutch Gaming on July 20 and Golden Guardians on July 21 during week 7 of the 2019 LCS Summer Split.

Team Liquid is currently leading the summer split with nine wins to three losses. The group only needs one more victory to gain a spot in the playoffs and can secure a semifinals slot if they conclude the split as one of the two leading teams.

These upcoming matches may prove difficult if the team’s top laner is forced to remain absent due to this unfortunate accident.
